What is Combat Archery?

Here we give you a bit more information about one of the most exciting games to hit the UK in years. Combat Archery is sometimes known by other names such as Tag Archery, Battle Archery. It is like a combination of dodgeball, paintball and is played with foam tipped arrows with inflatable obstacles for cover. 

Who is if for?

Combat archery is a popular event for Stag and hen parties. The opportunity to let off steam and the competitive element makes it a firm favourite. 

Unlike paintballing, with our foam tipped arrows you are not likely to have unsightly bruises that look something else that you have to explain when you go back home. It is also great because everyone can compete on a level playing field.

 By the end of the session you will be taking out your friends with your amazing archery skills.

Combat archery is terrific event for schools of all sizes. Whether you are an independent school looking for an activity to keep your boarders entertained, a secondary school wanting a rewards day or looking for a yr 6 leavers event, then Tag archery will be sure to go down well. 

Great as  a non mainstream activity to engage even the least active children to take part in 'active play'

Encourages pupils to participate to take part in a competitive but highly inclusive physical activity, which ticks a lot of boxes for schools

The ideal activity for univerisity. If you are Student Union looking for Freshers event ideas or a leavers activity, a combat archery event is a great way of getting your students active and having fun. We can bring all of the equipment to your campus and with 20 players taking part at a time we can cater for large groups. Students will be talking about this event, around campus for weeks afterwards

Youth groups really enjoy combat archery. If you are a small youth group then this activity is great for livening up weekly sessions. 

We also deliver Combat Archery for larger organisations such as the NCS National Citizenship Service and many community foundations around the UK. We usually recommend that peple are over 10 years of age.

How to play combat archery

The games begin with all the arrows placed inside a middle “no man’s land” or the bows on each teams end line. It is then a frantic race to the middle to get arrows for your team and race back and take cover before your opponents  can get a shot away.


You score points for your team by hitting your opponents and also by knocking a centre of the oppositions target

The objective of this game is to score more points than you opponents.  All players, must obey the rules stipulated for the game. You must also respect all the other players


The game ends either when all target centers have been shot loose from a teams target, or after the agreed maximum game time limit. It really is that simple but ultra fun!!

Where can I do combat archery near me?

One of the best things about combat archery is that the obstacles are mobile. So if you have a large enough space we can bring this wonderful activity to you. It works equally as well in a large Sports Hall as it does on a regular field or 3G pitch. We

Combat Archery York, York is one of our most popular venues we use Copmanthorpe Recreation Centre, Sandburn Hall Golf Club and also Playfootball all easy to get to with ample parking and excellent facilities.


Combat Archery can also be delivered in other UK cities such as Leeds, Sheffield, Nottingham, Manchester which are only a couple of hours from where we are based in York.  If you have an event for longer than a couple of hours, we can also deliver throughout the UK.



Why is Combat Archery is good for you?

Combat archery is a great pulse raising activity, the benefits of raising physical activity levels are well known. Not only is it good for physical health but this activity can also improve mental health.  Not only does it help to  build trust but taking part in team games can also help reduce feelings of isolation and anxiety. Combat archery is a great way to release those endorphins and those feel good hormones that improve well being.
